How I Became a Top-Rated Writer on Upwork
I joined Upwork less than a year ago, and I’d be lying if I said I expected to achieve much success with it. My Medium efforts have been lackluster at best, so I expected similar results from Upwork.
But much to my surprise, I found myself easily landing gigs on Upwork. Now, just about 10 months after I signed up for Upwork, I am proud to say that not only do I have a 100% Job Success score, but that I have also earned a badge as a “Top Rated” writer.
How I Earned The Top-Rated Badge
My first step in landing clients on Upwork was filling out my profile. I completed it as thoroughly as possible to establish myself as a legitimate writer and not just some random “AI bot.” This included verifying my phone number, providing work samples and mentioning past clients to prove that while I might be new to Upwork, I was not, in fact, new to freelance writing.
Once I had established my profile, I signed up for the Freelancer Plus profile for $14.99 monthly, and went about submitting bids to land clients. Much to my surprise, I quickly landed a gig within my first week which paid about $100. Even better, my first client subsequently ranked my work as five stars, which of course, helped me land future clients.
